Study Work VISA for International Students

In an effort to increase regional migration target, the Morrison Government post study work visa duration for Australia is set to increase up to 4 years. This is an initiative of the Government of Australia to ease pressure off major cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and grow the economies and education sector of regional Australia.

Please find below table with list of Australian cities and their corresponding durations of post study work visa. The new definition will come into effect on 16 November.

Definition : Major Cities

Locations : Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane
Duration of Post-Study Work Visa : 2 years

Definition : Cities and major regional centers

Locations :
Perth/Adelaide/ Gold Coast/ Sunshine Coast/Canberra/ Newcastle/Lake Macquarie/ Wollongong/Illawarra/Geelong/ Hobart
Duration of Post-Study Work Visa : 3 years

Definition : Regional centers and other regional areas

Locations : All other locations –
Regional Areas (Darwin, Launceston, Toowoomba, Springfield, Ipswich, Lismore, Albury-Wodonga, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Armidale, Cairns, Townsville, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Noosa, Rockhampton, Bendigo and many more).
Duration of Post-Study Work Visa : 4 years
